On a dreary Friday evening St Ultan’s made the short trip across the Borora to take on Moynalty’s Under 13’s in their rescheduled game. Their first game of the Championship started brightly for the lads in red and white. The Moynalty charges knew the lay of the land from early on, kept their marking tight, and worked well to produce some fantastic scores, both under and over the crossbar. Larry Mc Entee had little to do, bar pace up and down the pitch, as both teams maintained their composure, while Moynalty dominated around the field. The second half saw a new charge from the Ultan’s, as they had a lot to prove after finding scoring tough going in the first half. They came out and made their presence felt and popped score after score over the bar. A few well played passes led to some great scores. It wasn’t enough to make up the difference as Moynalty had seen the back of the net numerous times in the first half.
Well done to the lads on a great opening game. David, Cormac and Barry were thrilled with their win and hope it’s a good sign of things to come. This team are young and enthusiastic, and come to each game fired up and ready to play. The team have seen incredible improvements from so many players, great team play, and fantastic skill development. The coaches couldn’t be prouder. Onwards and upwards for the lads in red and white!
