Our under 11’s left the glorious sunshine of Moynalty and headed for the chillier plains of Deerpark on Saturday morning.
St Michael’s were hosting ourselves and Moylagh, and with each group split into the two teams, the games got underway.
Moynalty have been working on their game play tactics in training and it was clear to see how well it was working for the side in red and white, as they played clever balls into the mid fielders and onto the forwards leaving the backs to defend and keep their players man marked. Our keepers were kept on their toes and were seen at full stretch to ensure the ball didn’t see the back of the net.
The referees were left with little to do in each game, as the teams kept it clean and controlled, which helped with the flow of football and also meant that the spectators were treated to great football at each of the three pitches.
Legs tired near the end, but in good Moynalty spirit our players never gave up and with some well thought out praise from the sidelines found their second, and indeed third, wind to keep the games going.
Well done to St Michael’s for hosting and to all who refereed on the day.
