Moynalty 4:14 Slane 3:07
Moynalty travelled to Slane on Monday night for the second league game in Division 3, hoping to build off a good result last week in Round 1 against Na Fianna. The opening of the game was closely contested, with both sides playing attacking football in the sunny conditions. Seán Cassidy found the back of the Slane net in the first half to give Moynalty some breathing space, however Slane hit back with a penalty of their own to stay in the game. Shortly before half time Odhran Mc Mahon brilliantly turned over the ball for Moynalty high in Slane’s half, and the move was finished off with a goal by Seán Mac Mahon to leave the half time score Moynalty 2-09 Slane 1-05.
Moynalty were more dominant in the second half, continuing to win their individual battles across the park and it reflected on the scoreboard as the visitors pulled ahead. Aaron Lynch, Stephen Cassidy, Ewan Gilsenan all added fresh legs off the bench, and all contributed well on the night. Slane added two late goals as Moynalty ran out winners with the full time score Moynalty 4:14 Slane 3:07.
There is a lengthy break in the league now for Moynalty, with the final league game scheduled for Monday July 1st away to Bective at 6:45pm.
