Sunday 23rd March
Slane 1-14 Moynalty 0-08
A much depleted Moynalty side travelled to Slane on Sunday morning in search of their first points of the year in the J.M.B. Sportsfield Services Football League Division 4. Moynalty played against a heavy breeze in the first half, and as a result struggled to build attacks. Slane kicked the opening four points, and on 11 minutes Jude Gilsenan found the white flag to open the scoring for the awayside. It was continued one way traffic for the remainder of the half, with Slane’s shooting proving too effective infront of goal. Ollie Sheridan added a late free in the first half to leaving the half time score reading Slane 0-12 Moynalty 0-02.
The second half saw Moynalty much improved, particularly in the final third. Early in the second half both Bryan McCormack and Ollie Sheridan both hit two pointers to reduce the gap to 7 points. The killer blow came on the 43rd minute, as Slane found the back of the Moynalty net despite an impressive 1 on 1 save by Johnny Lynch. Bryan McCormack hit his second two pointer late on to leave the full time score Slane 1-14 Moynalty 0-08. Moynalty now travel to Piltown on Sunday 6th April to face Saint Colmcilles, with throw in at 11am.
