Moynalty 2-09 Drumbaragh 1-10
Moynalty kick started their Meath Cleaning Supplies Division 6 campaign on Tuesday evening with a win at home to Drumbaragh. The first half was a slow burner for the home side, with a 45 from James Lynch the pick of the scores. A quickfire double of goals however from Cillian Gaynor and James Lynch pushed Moynalty into the lead shortly before half time, and went at Half Time leading by a score of Moynalty 2-03 Drumbaragh 1-04.
The second half was a fiery affair. The away side grew frustrated as they struggled to regain their first half lead. Dylan Gargan prevented a sure goal for the away side by collecting the ball on the goal line, as the defence for the homeside stayed resilient. Moving forward Moynalty had 6 points from 5 different scorers in the second half, as their off the ball running and accuracy infront of goal saw them over the line. Cillian Gaynor capped off an impressive Championship debut for himself, with a total haul of 1-02. In midfield Anto Nevin dominated aerially offering the perfect outlet to transition from defence to attack.
The closing stages saw Shaun Nevin on the wrong end of a nasty clash off the ball. Moynalty showed great composure to hold onto the ball for the final few minutes whilst a man down and 2 points up, to see out the deserved win. We all wish Shaun a speedy recovery, in what was a massive shift in defence from him throughout. Full Time Score Moynalty 2-09 Drumbaragh 1-10.
