Moynalty 2:13 Duleek Bellewstown 1:09
Moynalty made it two wins from two in the PMC Physiotherapy Football League Division 9, after facing off against a resilient Duleek Bellewstown side. The grounds staff have worked hard recently in Moynalty to maintain the pitch throughout the high levels of rainfall, and it paid off with the pitch in great condition.
The first half was a relatively low scoring affair, with several individual mistakes across both ends of the pitch costing the home side, and Duleek Bellewstown heading into the break with a deserved lead. Cillian Gaynor scored a very important goal midway through the first half to keep Moynalty within touching distance. Half time score Moynalty 1-02 Duleek Bellewstown 0-06
Moynalty made serveral changes at half time, and the fresh energy proved to be too strong for the depleted Duleek Bellewstown team. Jude Gilsenan kicked 5 second half points after being introduced at the half. Michael Collins also topped off a brilliant hardworking display with a well taken second half point. Duleek Bellewstown refused to give up, and constantly battled back despite not having any substitutes to use. Jack McEntee ran in a late goal to put to bed and doubt that the two points were heading to the home side. Full Time Score Moynalty 2:13 Duleek Bellewstown 1:09.
The result caps off a very special day for manager Joey Curley, who hours previously became a grandparent for the first time. We would like to congratulate Aoife, Paddy and all the Conneely and Curley families on the birth of their baby boy.
