At the fourth time of asking, Moynalty finally hosted Drumbaragh in Round 1 of the PMC Physiotherapy Football League Division 9. Both teams went into the game full of confidence with a clean sweep of wins behind them, and it showed from the offset with a free flowing entertaining game of football.
Christy Cahill was the standout player in the first half, scoring all of Moynaltys 1-03 scoreline with a mixture of open play scores and frees. Thomas Owens also had a fantastic first half, producing a big a 1 on 1 double save keep Moynalty in the game. Drumbaragh proved clinical at taking their points, leaving the halftime score Moynalty 1:03 Drumbaragh 0:07
As Moynalty introduced fresh legs in the second half, they began to assert their dominance on the game. Peter Olwill began the second half with an immediate point for the hosts to draw level. Christy Cahill again added to the scoreboard to put Moynalty ahead, but Drumbaragh hit back with a goal of their own to put them ahead by 3 as they began to put some distance between the two teams. As the game ticked over into injury time, Moynalty needed a hero, and it was Jude Gilsenan, surrounded by defenders, who stepped up with a cooly dispatched goal to level procedures at the death. The game marked a special occasion for two of Moynaltys players. Firstly, Michael Collins celebrated the birth of his daughter Éabha on Wednesday. We would like to congratulate Caoimhe, Michael and all of the Powers and Collins families on the birth of the beautiful baby girl. Secondly, the game marked the 21st Birthday of Peter Olwill who contributed with a point on the night.
