Moynalty and Na Fianna faced off at the minor level for the third time this season on Tuesday evening under a floodlit Dunganny pitch. The opening 10 minutes saw both sides trade two points with Cathal Donoghue and Eoin Gilsenan on target for Moynalty. The game went into a small lull afterwards, as both sides fought hard defensively to ensure no big chances fell the oppositions way. Na Fianna tagged along two further points, before a flurry of action infront of goal from Moynalty talisman Eoin Gilsenan. In injury time of the first half Eoin scored 1-2 to turn the game on its head and leave the Half Time score Moynalty 1-04, Na Fianna 0-04.
Moynalty continued to dominate the opening minutes of the second half, and found some brilliant scores from Eoin Gilsenan, Arron Lynch and Cathal Donoghue. With Moynalty firmly in the driving seat, Na Fianna pushed hard but we’re kept at bay with strong defensive performances from Stephen Cassidy and Odhran McMahon. Shane Bennett capped off his impressive display with a point on the 15th minute, and Sean Mac Mahon found what would be Moynaltys final score of the match only moments after. Moynalty ran out eventual winners with the full time score 1-10 to Na Fianna’s 8 points.
The win leaves the young Moynalty side with a Division 3 Final to look forward to against the winners of St Ultans / Cortown Gaels and Killary Emmets.
