On Sunday, June 23rd all roads led to Moynalty football pitch. What awaited was nothing short of a spectacular sunny day of fun, food and football.
Charlie and Carol manned the BBQ and cooked up burgers for all. The young ladies of the parish kept the children entertained with loom band bracelets and face painting. The families of the parish made sure there were enough sandwiches and biscuits for all.
But the highlight of the day was the football. We had fantastic representation from every age group across both the Football and LFGA Club – Under 6’s, 7’s, 9’s, 10’s, 11’s, 13’s, 15’s, Minors, Adults and our Legends. The final match of Adults vs Legends saw young men delighted to take on the oldies, older men thinking they were still young. Families roaring them all on from the sidelines, children shouting for their dads, uncles and coaches. The Legends reeled back the years, and reminded everyone in attendance why their names are still spoken about with such fond memories on the pitch.
Well done and a massive thank you to everyone who took part in what was a special day of celebration for our Football and LGFA Club. There are too many to mention – the players, the drivers, the sandwich makers, the biscuit bringers, the onlookers, the bracket makers, the face painters, the soaked coaches, the whistlers, the tea makers, the chefs, the Healthy Club crew, the swap shoppers. The list goes on! We can’t wait for next year!
