Tailteann Shield Round 2
Saturday 24th February 2024
Clonard 0-07 Moynalty 0-17
Moynalty made the long trip to St Finians Park in Clonard on Saturday in what were ideal conditions for a football match.
Clonard started brightly with a point after just one minute, but Moynalty gathered momentum once the game settled. The defence held tight by centre back Adam Reilly, which allowed the forward talent to shine. Ollie Sheridan hit 5 first half points, along with Bryan McCormack’s 3. The pick of the first half scores was a point from James Lynch, who came on for the injured Pauric O’Connor, from an acute angle on 25 minutes. Half time score Clonard 0-02 Moynalty 0-13.
The second half proved to be a much tighter affair with scoring reduced. The home side began to add to their scoreline as Moynalty’s 6 substitutes added fresh legs to see the game out. Moynalty now look forward to a clash with neighbours Carnaross on Saturday evening 2nd March at 4 o’clock in Carnaross with both sides sitting on 2 wins from 2.
