Monday 10th March
On a chilly spring Monday, Moynalty Under 13’s welcomed the new combined team of Nobber / K’wood for their first challenge of the new season.
This had been delayed due to pitch issues, so the tension was high in both camps. Both teams were eager to make their mark, and it was the Moynalty side that took the honor of the first score on the night.
Scores were hard to come by as the breeze blew across the pitch, the newly cut trees denying those gathered of any shelter from the wind.
A brace of goals in the first half saw Moynalty sitting comfortably, but the Nobber / K’wood side found points easier to come by, and they narrowed the gap by chipping away between the uprights.
The second half saw the visitors with a lot of ball, and Moynalty got it hard to get the ball up the field for scoring chances. Some impressive saves kept the score line to the minimum, but it wasn’t enough as the visitors left with the win under their belts.
Larry Mc Entee was impressive as always. Explaining the new rules before the game, and taking all the teaching moments during the game to make sure everyone knew where they stood. Only one incident of dissent on the night, as one was all it took for everyone to learn their lesson! The new rules are working well in North Meath.
Well done to a great Moynalty side who battled all evening, testament to the work that has been put in by the coaches so far this year.
